The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social and physical development of the learner.
I know there are many ways of assessing students and I want to think creatively when developing assessments. I know I want be able to assess that the students are actually learning and not regurgitating answers they have memorized.
This is a lesson plan I created for my Cognition and Evaluation of Students’ Learning class in the fall of 2010. The lesson plan is an example of some of the types of assessment I want to use in a Foods 1 class. It shows the rubric from the microwave lab to assess students learning of using microwaves. It is a type of assessment where students are learning and using their knowledge instead of regurgitating answers they have memorized. Students do this by participating in a lab and by making microwavable sticky buns.
