Motivation and Management

The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.

I know that I need to encourage learning and make it interesting for the student. I understand that the class needs to be organized so that it reflects a business-like classroom. I know that I want my classroom to be a safe place to learn and discuss things of a sensitive nature that are vital to my content.

This artifact is an action plan for classroom management that I created in my Methods of Teaching class in the fall of 2010. Most of the ideas that I have in my action plan are ideas that my clinical and mentor teachers have used in their own classrooms. I have seen their organization and management and I know that it works well for their classroom atmosphere. The organization of units, lessons, and the order of the classroom helps reflect a business-like classroom that all teachers strive for. The priority in my classroom is respect for everyone. I will use these ideas to establish a positive, safe learning environment and contribute to a classroom that is a safe place to discuss sensitive subjects. I will also use a reflective process at the end of every semester to help my personal style of teaching grow and improve and become the best it can be.
