Planning

The teacher plans instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals.

I know that I want my lessons to be based around the curriculum and students. They will be organized in a way that is easy to understand. The use of culture, community and curriculum goals will shape my lesson plans to reflect the overall objective.

This artifact is a scope and sequence I designed for my Methods of Teaching Interior Design class in the fall of 2010. My future classes will not only be organized in this way, but also in block plans showing exactly what standards and objectives will be covered on certain days. The scope and sequence follows the block plan, but uses a system that is easier to understand. At the bottom of the scope and sequence is the phrase, “This is subject to change.” This is because as I start to see how my students learn and how much they understand the curriculum, I will change my scope and sequence and block plan according to their knowledge. I will also change my scope and sequence and block plan according to the schedules of the school and community.
