Communication and Technology

The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.

I know that I want to communicate in different ways with my students other than just speaking. I know that I want to use different forms of technology as well to teach my students the concepts of the class. I understand that using different communication and technologies in my classroom will help foster interactions between the students and help them learn better.

This artifact is a lesson plan I created for my Methods of Teaching class in the fall of 2010. It was created for a microteaching experience to show the introduction of the lesson. The lesson plan is an example of some of the different forms of technology and communication that will be used during my class. First, I am going to use Power Point and Prezi (an online interactive presentation tool) to teach my students the main points and key concepts of the class. However, it will not be the only type of technology I will use. As shown in the artifact, I will use video, music, and clips to help enhance understanding and engagement in the class. I will also use different forms of communication in my class, such as verbal, non-verbal, and written communication to help foster interactions between students and help them learn better.
