Multiple Instructional Strategies

The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

I know that every student has a different teaching style in which they learn best. I understand that I need to incorporate different teaching strategies into my lesson plans so that every student has a chance to learn the content in a way that maximizes learning and enhances understanding.

This artifact is a lesson plan I created in my Methods of Teaching class I took in the spring of 2010. The lesson plan is an example of some of the multiple methods of teaching I plan to use in my classroom. In this lesson plan, I use direct teaching, demonstration, and practical reasoning as my teaching strategies. These teaching strategies target different types of learners. For example, the demonstration teaching strategy targets more visual learners while the practical reasoning targets more of the kinesthetic learners. Using these different teaching strategies will enhance students’ understand of the concept because they may learn it in a way they learn best. As I teach and evaluate my lessons, I will be able to create more lesson plans that uses multiple instructional strategies to enhance the learning and understanding of my students.
