The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
I know that I want to use a reflection process in which I decide if the lessons and activities I use are beneficial for the students. I understand that this will help in improving lessons that may have failed or improving lessons and making them better. I know that I want to attend conferences and use list serves to better my lessons, gather more ideas from other teachers and develop professionally.

This artifact is a lesson plan that I received from a Family and Consumer Science teacher that teaches at Desert Hills Middle School in St. George, UT. Shelli Barnum allowed me to borrow many of her files so that I can use the ideas to develop my own lesson plans and curriculum. The lesson plan also shows the type of reflection process I want to use. When I was looking through her hard copy of lesson plans, I noticed that Mrs. Barnum had written notes about things she needed to change on the lessons that didn’t work very well. That is how I want to use my reflection section of my lesson plans and activities to make them more beneficial for my students. This will help me improve lessons to make them better. It also shows that I have already started gathering ideas and information from other teachers to help me develop professionally. However, I want to continue this process by going to conferences, using list serves and observing other teachers in the field.
